IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) is a globally recognized organization with thousands of members. The organization as a whole, aims to further advance technology for the benefit of humanity. As a student branch, we operate within UVic to provide students with opportunities to develop their careers and gain a larger appreciation for the use of electrical technology. As the elected co-chair of IEEE, I seek to provide my fellow club members with academic and professional opportunities. I act as the official spokesperson for the IEEE Victoria Student Branch to all other organizations. I work to ensure that the day-to-day activities are completed. I am responsible for making sure all skill devs, social events, workshops, and general meetings are well organized and advertised to members.
I recently championed and coordinated a three-part tech talk series in partnership with an industry professional. The first talk, titled "Project Management," explored the project life cycle from initial conception to end of life. The second talk, titled "Agile & Scrum," introduced students to the concept of working within Agile teams. This talk introduced Agile methodologies and explored the benefits and challenges of Agile. The final talk, titled, "Mastering Requirements & Product Vision," explored what makes a product truly successful. This talk gave students the tools they needed to better interpret the end user and their needs through the intersection of business, technology, and the end user.
